A small group of LBC Members was treated to a very special day which included not only tuition on classical ballet technique but also the opportunity for students to learn solos from current Royal Ballet Principals.
Hot on the heels of their appearance together in Romeo and Juliet, Yasmine Naghdi and Vadim Muntagirov were among the faculty for the Dance Forward Half Term Course arranged by Andrew Ward, himself a former Royal Ballet dancer.
Yasmine chose to work on the Queen of the Dryads' solo from Don Quixote with a strong emphasis on presentation. Vadim selected Albrecht's solo from Giselle and the results of his detailed coaching showed just how important it was for dancers to live the story through the steps.
The day ended with Andrew himself teaching the basics of pas de deux work at a beginner level thus reminding everyone watching that partnering is a very special skill in its own right.
