Alexander and Claire (pictured together as Lescaut and his Mistress in Manon) have recently announced their engagement to be married and are among the most well-known artists in The Royal Ballet. Indeed, they very kindly wrote for us last year about their experiences during the first Covid-19 lockdown.
Alexander hails from Australia and studied there before joining The Royal Ballet School (RBS). He graduated into Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2005, transferred to The Royal Ballet (RB) in 2011 and became a Principal in 2016.
Claire comes from Bath and, having joined the RBS aged 11, she graduated into the RB in 2007. She danced The Lilac Fairy whilst still an Artist. She was promoted to First Soloist in 2016.
Details of all their many roles up to early 2020 can be found on the ROH website. Claire recently made her debut in the new work Optional Family: A Divertissement as part of the RB’s 21st Century Choreographers Programme in which Alexander was cast in Within the Golden Hour. In the upcoming Balanchine/Robbins Triple Bill, Claire will appear in Apollo and Alexander in Dances at a Gathering.
